The Borough of Stone Harbor in cooperation with the Go Green Committee would like to take this opportunity to remind Homeowners to Properly Winterize their home as the cold winter season approaches.

Picture1Winter weather and the accompanying costs to repair or replace frozen or otherwise damaged pipes, sprinkler and utility systems to your home or condominium, along with unintended water and electrical utility charges, and Borough charges for any Emergency Shut-Off, suggests that each property owner consider the following pre-winter actions:

Outside Winterizing

  • Blow/Drain Sprinkler & Related Systems
  • Drain Outside Showers
  • Disconnect/ Drain Outside Hoses
  • Drain/Adjust Water levels in all Pools & Ponds

Inside Winterizing

  • Open & Drain all Faucets and Interior Pipes
  • Drain Water Heater(s)
  • Disconnect Ice Maker Lines
  • Pull Cartridges from Refrigerator and Disconnect
  • Pour/Drain Anti-freeze into all Traps, Toilets & Sinks, Tubs, Dishwashers, Washing Machine  Line Drains and All Other Drains

PROPERTY OWNERS AND MANAGERS SHOULD REVIEW THE LISTED RECOMMENDATIONS WITH A  LICENSED PLUMBER AND, IF APPLICABLE, YOUR RENTAL AGENT.

**THESE SUGGESTIONS ARE GENERAL AND INCOMPLETE, AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED IN LIGHT OF EACH PROPERTY STRUCTURE AND CONDITIONS.

The Go Green Community Committee was established by the Borough of Stone Harbor with the primary goal of establishing common practice of conservation.

In addition, the Go Green Committee is a constant source of information that is presented to homeowners in an effort to educate everyone on the importance of preserving our natural resources.

Our community benefits from the partnership established with this committee and the residents who participate in our purpose.

Efforts by the Borough of Stone Harbor to reduce water consumption have resulted in savings of more than 18,000,000 gallons in 2013.

Let’s continue our efforts to conserve our most precious resource.
