The Borough of Stone Harbor is calling upon its citizens to come together and commemorate the 20th anniversary of the attacks on 9/11 with a 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk on Saturday, September 11th. We will salute those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and run with their memories in our hearts. The race will start at First Ave and 96th Street, just a block away from Freedom Park, where a piece of the wreckage stands as an everlasting tribute. Please join us back at Freedom Park after the race (approx. 10:30) for a Memorial Ceremony.

  • The race will start at 8:46 am, the time that the first tower was struck
  • Race Day registration and Packet Pickup will close at 8:30 to ensure all runners are present for the pre-race addresses and a moment of silence
  • Shirts and a commemorative token are included with registration while supplies last. Pre-register online by 9/4 for guaranteed receipt
  • Same day registration will also be available starting at 7:00 am on September 11th. The registration tent will be located in the Borough Hall Parking Lot on 96th Street (behind the library).
  • Awards for the top 3 Female and Male Overall and in 10 year Age Groups
  • Awards for the top finishers in the First Responders category. Please indicate if you are a First Responder during registration
