Atlantic City Electric – Peermont Substation Project

6/10/16 – Stone Harbor Municipal Update

Atlantic City Electric has finalized the Horizontal Directional Drilling process in Stone Harbor.

Starting Saturday, June 11 crews will begin the process of pulling a cable under the Great Channel from Hallman Road in Middle Township to the riser structure on 95th Street in Stone Harbor. Crews will work up to seven days a week if necessary to ensure this portion of the reliability enhancement project is completed timely.

Stone Harbor Police will direct traffic while this work is being conducted to ensure the safety of residents and our crews.

This work will continue for approximately nine days. Once the cable pull is complete, the majority of construction equipment will be removed from this area.

After the cable is successfully pulled, crews will begin the process of splicing the cable together at the manhole located on 95th Street along with the installation of terminations and connection to the overhead circuit at the new riser structure just past 3rd Avenue.  This splicing process is slated to begin on approximately June 19 and barring any unforeseen circumstances, will take approximately three days to complete. Crews will work 24 hours daily to complete the splicing work and 95th Street will remain open for local traffic during that time.

It’s anticipated that our crews will complete all work on 95th Street in Stone Harbor by June 30.

We thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding as we work to complete the final stages of construction.

The Peermont Substation Project modernized our electric system to help ensure safe and reliable electric service to residents in Avalon, Stone Harbor and the surrounding area. The upgraded infrastructure and steel poles, designed to withstand 120 mph winds, is more resilient against extreme weather events.
